We packed the cars and headed down to San Antonio Saturday for the all day concert event of the summer. The stages were packed with good bands, but we found a consensus and checked out the following great acts:
- Slipknot
- Disturbed
- Dragonforce
- Five Finger Death Punch
- Walls of Jericho
All in all it was a fun filled day of casual mosh pits, free all-you-can-drink Rockstar energy drinks and good weather.
I am feeling a bit sore though… I must be getting old ;^) .

It started with a Google Search.
I had a long list of names vaguely associated with enzyme design has been slimmed down to these final four.
Steve Mayo
Steven Brenner
Christopher Voigt
Jay Keasling
As I continue to search I will update the list.

I had a plan for this blog to focus on the things that make up who I am. My faith, family and friends, career and hobbies but I have been experiencing terrible writers block. The block where I cannot find the time to write and when I do it becomes very fatiguing. Being still inexperienced with writing for the anonymous masses, I have struggled with this since getting this site up. After much meditation, it dawned on me…
its not that big of a deal.
The new game plan is to have regular updates with less focused, more personal entries. If I have something big to announce I will make it a separate page with a short synopsis in the main blog feed.
I already feel a great weight lifted off my shoulders.

Last Thursday at SXSW was pretty awesome. We got to see a great line up of bands and only had to pay 20 bucks for tickets the whole night. First we headed to Auditorium Shores were we saw Grupo Fantasma, Del the Funky Homosapien
and Spoon. Afterwards we headed to Waterloo to grab a bite to eat and happened upon Ride on Rides. Then we traveled down to La Zona Rosa to check out Fly Leaf and Serj Tankian. Every band was on their game and played great shows. I think the big winner of the night was Serj, his comedic and showboating attitude really put his solo album together for me. His act carried a mix of Slam Poetry, Performance Art and Thrash Metal.
Oh, and they did a cover of Holiday in Cambodia by the Dead Kennedys.

Morning BAWCers,
We had a great DND game on Saturday which I will be taking a more in depth look at later. Also we had some serious leveling progression in the WoW guild. I have high hopes that we could have some serious 70 Kara -> Zul’Aman raiding action this summer if everyone keeps up. This means that everyone will be geared to the teath, just in time for Northrend & WotLK to come out…
But it is just a game, right? And that unity and experience will let us grow and adapt to the challenges of the expansion and we can get our foot in the door much earlier than we did with The Burning Crusade. In terms of introducing people to WoW, LeeAnn and I have gotten much of our family and many friends involved and I think it is safe to say that we have had more interaction with them (those that play at least) since we all started playing this game. This is a good thing.
Plus, I am so hooked on the forums.
Edit: For the record I am really not bored at work. It has been an exciting (busy) week with lots of new experiments and side projects (like defrosting a -80 freezer).

Hi Everyone, welcome to the brand new Fortress For Wellbeing website. We have some functionality at last. The World of Warcraft forum for our guild (Perilous Peril) is operational as well as our photo gallery. The Baha’i Forums should be operational this week. Phil has helped me so much in this work and I am incredibly grateful for that.
